Repeated Comments

Comments that were largely positive about prize structure
There were several comments from players who noted that they enjoyed being able to request older coats and items as a prize for this event, and others commenting that they liked the adjustments to the prize structure from last year.

Comments about suggestions for prize adjustments
We asked for possible adjustments and improvements for next year, and there were a variety of suggestions. Some of the suggestions that came up more than once were adding an option to select past event coats/items as prizes, selecting past OotS coats sans items, individual past OotS items rather than the sets, and having the completion prize be bonus points instead of an item.

Comments about prize rebalancing
Some respondents commented that some of the prices for the lower-tiered items felt unbalanced — specifically, some wished that the OotS should have been priced at 15 points, allowing people to get two for their points, rather than one + lower tier prizes that held less personal interest.

Comments that were positive about the new submission page
Some respondents appreciated the form as a quick checklist to see what pieces they had completed/submitted, and which they had not. This was a new addition as last year we did not have an interface to check completion status.

Comments about streamlining the submission process
Most of the comments about the submission form noted that the dual submissions (posting to the forums and then submitting the permalink) was unwieldy. Most people suggested having some way to upload directly to the form, rather than having to grab the URL from a forum post, though some went on to note that there would be downsides to this as well. Others suggested leaving the form open for slightly longer than the forum, or allowing for submissions from other threads on Mycena Cave.

We’ll put some thought into this since we’re not sure the best way to streamline/make the submission process more intuitive yet either—we are wanting to keep it a forum-based event and to keep the amount of work glitch needs to do for the Drawntlet at a minimum, so finding the right balance may take some time!

Comments about the prompt bank
Respondents enjoyed the prompt bank overall because it added additional flexibility, though there were also comments that they did not like the prompt bank as much for various reasons, including that it lessened the sense of community and made it harder to decide what to create.

Comments about bringing weekly challenges back
Some respondents missed the weekly challenges and would like to see them again in the future.

Comments about the Drawntlet overall
Many respondents look forward to the Drawntlet as a way to encourage productivity and creativity each year, and the adjustments that were made from last year overall were well received and made it more fun for many. Some do feel the Drawntlet is fun, but draining, especially when it comes after an event that also requires creative submissions.

As always, thank you to all who took time to fill this out! We made adjustments this year based on last year’s feedback, and, as a result, many felt more positively about this year’s Drawntlet in comparison! We hope to continue to improve the Drawntlet by making adjustments based on community feedback.

Hyasynthetic took the feedback results and analyzed & compiled them. It always takes a lot of time to do this (and makes it so much easier to write up these compilations/look back on the data in the future) so a special thank you goes to him!
