[EVENT] Little Light Festival

Every year, sometime in midwinter, the moon passes across a large opening in the ceiling of the Cave, showering the cavern below in its light. This is not an illusion, or some deep-Cave phenomenon that imitates the moon’s light and countenance — but the actual, physical moon. The one that exists Outside.

The moon’s yearly visit to the denizens of the Cave loosely marks the beginning of a new year. Mycenians from all over gather in the cavern to socialize and celebrate. This convergence has come to be known as the Lunar Luck Festival, as local legend states that basking in the moon’s silvery light is bound to bring good luck for the year ahead.Lunar Luck Festival, 2023

Unfortunately, it has been an unusually precipitous January. And when it hasn’t been snowing (or raining, or sleeting), the sky is often darkened by the kind of thick, heavy clouds that only seem to gather in wintertime. The forecast for the Festival isn’t promising… How can Mycenians be expected to celebrate the Lunar Luck Festival without the moon?

Nobody’s sure who started the blaze. It was stoked late one night—little more than a camp fire set upon a modest pile of sticks, flickering warmly against the gloom. And, for some reason, the locals began tending it; feeding and growing it until it became a massive community bonfire, painting the cavern with light and chasing the chill from the cold winter air.

And so it’s been decided that this year, instead of celebrating under the glow of the distant moon, the Cave would ring in the New Year bathed in its own home-brewed brilliance: a Little Light Festival in lieu of the Lunar Luck Festival.

I love the new coat! Excited to get some of the capsules to get older stuff, those are always fun to open. :D

For Dragon Magic, I’m assuming we can use either Upright or Reversed interpretations for our idea? Or can we take a very literal approach if we want and don’t worry about the interpretations at all?

Tamako
Any of those would be valid directions to take!

Thanks for the help!! <3

how is everyones luck so far with random events?
Posted Feb 7

DarkHorse So far, not bad, and not great! I’ve had one random event that granted me an event item, and another random event that did not grant an item. Both of them are great, but I’ve only run into those two total. Hoping to see a few more even if they aren’t the item-granting events because I love reading them! How about yours?

Edit: Make that three, LOL. As soon as I hit “reply,” I got another RE.

I’ve definitely gotten a fair share of both. I’ve gotten two item granting ones, and definitely over seven (I think) of non-item granting ones.
Posted Feb 9
I’ve lost count of the non items. I got a lucky envelope thing and a mushroom and then some of the normal items. Matches, bottled clouds etc.. its been neat

Hooh… I see 5 now, 2 with items)

If anyone wants Random Encounter spoilers, I’ve been updating them into my guide so you can see possible item prizes and flavor text

If anyone wants to contribute, I need:

Jade Dragon Scales RE image URL (not the item image, the one with the fireworks background) (Thanks, Stanari!)
Moon Dragon Scales RE image URL (not the item image, the one with the fireworks background)
+ any additional events text/images I don’t have if you see them

DarkHorse My lucks been kinda low I guess? lol I didn’t think it was til I realized there was more than one item actually available via random events XD I got a mushroom from one, which I think great (so I don’t think I have bad luck persay), but it’s been the only event with an item I’ve got. I got one that was about fireworks but I didn’t get anything from it.

Buuuuuuut I’m pretty stoked about the mushroom so I’m not sad in the least XD

Stanari Thank you!

question! does the chance game count towards the activity count or is that entirely separate?
Posted Feb 15

Primarina
The chance game is entirely separate! It’s more of a little freebie than an activity.

All prizes from this event have now been distributed!

If we made a mistake somewhere in our distribution, please reach out to Crow!

You know, I’m a silly that should have done a message instead but completely I forgot they were a thing like an idiot. Putting this in there, except for this: You mods all rock, and thank you Crow for all your hard work!

The lamp-post waits alone in the snow, hoping for a visitor. Will you be the one to keep it company?
    [by Azurrys]

It’s a struggle to find shooting stars to wish on in most areas of the Cave that don’t open up to the sky, but with this incantation you’ll be seeing stars all night long.
    [by Purr]

  • Yellow Flame Camping Lantern
A trustworthy companion for a night-time stroll. Just don’t forget to refill the oil!

A provocative and edgy statement for some, a contemplative embodiment of the cycle of life and death for others.
    [by Shigure]

  • Summer Lanterns
A string of lanterns lights the way in the hazy summer evening. The sight pairs well with a warm breeze and the buzzing sound of cicadas.

The infernal heat thrums through these horns without mercy, burning those who do not heed its warning.
    [by Nymii]

    [by Laggingbehindreality]
