Malis Vitterfolk and Amirynth Delnaria

Malis and Rynn were the best of friends. The large, trollish, drasillis being the social one who enjoyed meeting others while the short, bookish, ineki had the smarts to keep them out of trouble when things got difficult. They were opposites of the same count, Malis was gregarious and outgoing, Rynn was shy and timid; Malis was strong with a sharp tongue when caught in the wrong way, Rynn was demure and her strength came from her magics. They had met during an incident with a monster, Rynn saved Malis when the drasillis stole a trinket from a darkened lair only to find it was occupied by the trinket’s owner. This friendship was to grow and get closer as time went on.

One adventure, during a time when Rynn was unable to join the troll, Malis came across an Arakkoa who was caught in a predicament. The bird-like ineki had lost some scrolls which were the last of their legacy of the people they had left before being turned to stone. Ix’kin was rather distraught over loosing something so precious and Malis agreed to help out. After a few miss-adventures, the troll was able to uncover the thief and rescue the scrolls for Ix’kin. She also decided that the arakkoa should join them and invited Ix’kin to come and live with herself and Rynn. The meek fire ineki was surprised at first with the new-comer but then warmed up fast when she found out that the Arakkoa enjoyed the written word about as much as she did. Now the trio are fast friends and are practically inseparable!

After a while, Ix’kin was contacted by their partner. The darker arakkoa had chosen a different path and they had separated for a while. In his footsteps was their child from before the ice came and Ix’kin was shocked to the core. He almost didn’t forgive Krisek but Malis spoke up about the importance of children and Rynn pointed out she wasn’t free of corruption either. It took a while for him to accepting the changes with his child but slowly over time the family became whole once more. The arakkoa trio joined with the Troll and elf, and then more kids came to join them. The family grew from five to seven before Malis decided one last time to ask the tree for a new seed.

(This geness is also a showcase for the majority of my cosplay projects! I have made costumes of each of my main characters)

Malis Vitterfolk, Troll Shaman of the Zandalari -

Malis is my main character and she has two versions. The first one I did at Blizzcon was her Volcanic garb with Sulfuras, the Legendary hammer of Ragnaros. It was also the first major cosplay I had ever done and was very well received when I ran around as her in character. I had been playing her for several years at the local renaissance faire dressed up in a hodge-podge of leathers and furs. When I finished putting on all the face paint and makeup, it felt natural for me to play the character I knew and loved (mostly because in person I am horribly shy, even more so back then.)  This was such a novelty for the others at con that Malis really stuck out as unique that year.

(Photos of Malis at Blizzcon in her Volcanic set and photos of my secondary costume that year, Tarecgosa’s elven form
(part of the burlesque group we did). She was a blue dragon who was part of the Legendary quest chain
so I even created the legendary staff as part of her costume.

The second time I created Malis as a costume was her The Regalia of the Firebird. While it was probably my favorite version of her and what I stick with now, it was harrowing making it as I was pregnant during the whole thing and was unable to try anything on! There is still a few things I need to tweak, even after my second run at SDCC but I hope those things can be patched up and I’ll make this her ‘official’ costume for good.

Fun fact: My Drasillis Malis custom is based off her blue version, and my secondary cosplay, Tarecgosa!

(Cannon Malis has long red dreads, however I found the mohawk ended up looking a lot better with the costume so that will be her ‘RL’ version from now on.)

Amirynth Delnaria, Warlock Mage of the Sin’dorei -

Rynn is my little belf warlock turned mage. She has a seven year long story that I have been RPing with a friend of mine in WoW and is my favorite character to RP for many different types of storylines. While I love Rynn as a character, when cosplaying as her, she has a habit of disappearing into the shadows. It is -very- in character for her which is quite amusing, but because of it, I don’t have that many photos of her. I’m still working on new ways to trim her robe and I’m learning how to do ribbon embroidery so I can add in all the runes she has decorating the edges of her sleeves and skirt.

Dawnseeker Ix’kin, Sun-sage of the Arakkoa -

My most favorite cosplay was my Arakkoa. 600+ hours put into it, mostly painting the feathers, as well as months of practice on the stilts. I tried out the costume at various cons through the year to make sure each piece would hold up though Blizzcon when I’d be wearing the mask. I’m really glad I did because there was many tweaks I had to make to it. With both a mask that gave me limited visibility and moving around on stilts on the con floor, it was my most ambitious costume at the time! I took Ix’kin to SDCC the following year and won best of show with it an achievement I am most proud of!

(To see me walking on stage, click the spoiler below. I consider this my greatest achievement as
I didn’t think I would make it accross the stage until I actually took those first steps.)
