Muru and Berry

Kira Kira Couple. The ultimate pastel pastry syrup

Angel meets a mortal and they are very happy and sappy and tend to gardens and bake together.

Miranda Made me the cutest story of their meeting for drawnlet ;__; <3

Muru had just closed the oven door when she heard the sound. It was almost like a boom. She peeked out the window to the soft rustling of trees and grasses bending in a strong breeze before becoming still. Her eyebrows knitted in confusion. What was that? She pulled off her apron and folded it over a chair before setting out to look for the source. Someone out there could be hurt.

As she made her way across the field she caught sight of a strange dip that wasn’t there before. She could see from far away that some kind of impact had left a scar in the field, a shallow crater-like indent at one end. Muru picked up the pace, rushing through the wildflowers to that spot.

As she reached the edge of the mark she made out a strange figure amongst the dirt, almost shimmering in soft pastels. Muru inched closer and leaned over and could make out the crumpled form of another, a strange and almost ethereal air around them. Her heart began racing. Oh my gosh, I hope they’re okay… She reached with one hand and very gently shook the person’s shoulder.

“Hello? Are you okay?” She asked, voice wavering.

The last thing that Berry remembered was tripping. Or falling? Falling. Faster and faster, wind rushing, then dark. Then silence. Then ringing. Then….

Then…. is that a voice? She squeezed her eyes and tried to blink. The light was blinding and unclear. She groaned in pain as she realized she had an absolutely splitting headache.

“Can you hear me?” The voice asked, a little clearer now. Berry turned her head in its direction and forced open an eye.

Leaning over her, soft pink hair blocking out the worst of the light now, was maybe the cutest girl she had ever seen. Bright blue eyes were looking at her with…. concern? Fear?

Oh yeah…. that would make sense.

“Ow…” She whimpered. As her senses came to she could feel sore all over, and her head was still hurting. Berry tried to get up, but the very cute girl gently laid a hand on her shoulder.

“Careful! Don’t get up too quick.” Concern flashed again in those pretty blue eyes and Berry relented immediately, laying back down.

When the stranger had opened her eyes, Muru’s heart stopped for a moment. She was really, really pretty. Like almost otherworldly in her beauty. So pretty it nearly distracted her from how dangerous it would be for the stranger to stand up right now.

“Are you hurt? Is your head okay?” She asked, her hands hovering nervously near the other girl’s temple.

“It hurts… but I think I will be okay,” The stranger said with a wince.

“Can I see?” Muru asked. The stranger looked up at her, eyes wide for a moment, before slowly turning the opposite way, exposing her back to Muru. Soft, downy feathered wings, a bit crumpled and very dirty but luckily no worse for wear, were immediately exposed and Muru gasped.

“You’re an angel,” she breathed out, voice a little reverent. The stranger’s shoulder seemed to hunch, just a little. Muru mentally chastised herself — so thoughtless! — for speaking without thinking, this was probably a sensitive subject for her given she was, well, down here on the ground.

“Sorry… let me know if this hurts, okay?” With that Muru carefully parted impossibly soft locks of pink and white hair and checked for signs of broken skin or serious injury. Satisfied with nothing, she started to pull her hand away, but stopped for a moment to caress one more lock. I can’t believe how soft her hair is… focus, Muru!

“You look okay. I’m Muru, by the way.”

Berry could feel her face flush cherry red as the other girl’s soft touch gently parted her hair. A cute girl is playing with my hair! She was so disappointed when the girl pulled her hand away she almost missed Muru offering her name. It took a moment for her to realize she should probably give hers back. She shifted back over and looked up at Muru.

“Berry,” she offered. Talking still hurt a lot. “Am I on the ground?” she asked slowly, eyes scanning the field behind Muru. Muru nodded, eyes sad again.

“What happened to you?” Berry tried to think back. All she could remember was the falling, and falling, and falling.

“I don’t remember,” she murmured. By now her head was starting to clear a little more and though it still throbbed, she could move.

She sat up gingerly, her hands against the ground to support her. After a moment they began to wobble and her vision blurred, she felt her elbows give out but instead of meeting the ground again she was suddenly leaning against something warm and soft. She blinked a few times and looked up, realizing Muru had caught her.

Muru had reached out on instinct, grabbing the other girl as soon as she realized she was about to fall. She looked at her in stunned silence for a moment, before shifting her weight back onto her feet. Scooping an arm under Berry’s knees and another around her back, Muru gingerly picked the fallen angel up bridal style. She was shocked to find she would be able to carry Berry back to the cottage, albeit a bit slow.

Too determined to get Berry someplace safe to think hard about how close the angelic being was, Muru just focused on holding her as steady as possible as she made her way back to the cottage. If she looked down she might have noticed a growing blush on the other girl’s face.

When they arrived back through the door Muru had scurried out of earlier, Muru gingerly helped Berry into a seat at the kitchen table. It was then she remembered what she had been doing.

“Oh no, the cupcakes!” Immediately she hurried to the oven, cutting off Berry’s questioning glance, and pulled a tray of cupcakes out. They were fluffy and warm and luckily not burnt. She gave a sigh of relief and quickly set about shutting off the oven, placing them on a wire rack to cool, and pouring Berry a cup of water.

“What are those?” Berry’s voice came from behind as she finished pouring the water. Muru turned and looked at her quizzically.

“You’ve never had a cupcake?” A single soft shake of the head was her answer. Muru smiled brightly and pulled one off the rack early. She pulled a jar of frosting from the counter and gave it a quick frosting, then brought the fresh cupcake and the water over to Berry.

“Try it!” She offered. Berry turned it around thoughtfully, catching a bit of frosting on her finger. She gently sucked it off and her eyebrows shot up. She began to bring the whole thing to her mouth and Muru chuckled, gently touching her wrist to stop Berry from eating the wrapper. Muru peeled the wrapper off before nodding for Berry to continue. Berry took a bite and gave a little whimper, her eyes sparkling.

“Wow, this is amazing,” she mumbled through the mouthful of moist, fluffy cakey delight. Berry looked up at Muru incredulously. “How did you do that?”

“Oh, well, I baked them. Um, I could show you? If you like?” She responded, ducking her head embarrassedly and suddenly very interested in a scuff on the floor. Berry’s eyes softened as she looked over this strange, adorable, incredibly kind girl that had just saved her.

“I’d like that.
