Kaidan and Xandra

Do you remember feeling invincible?
When there was trouble it was us against the world
We kept running, running through the night
Chasing the sun ‘til anything felt right

A System Alliance Sentinel who served on the SSV Normandy. He was part of Xandra’s crew as they worked on a common goal. He bonded quickly with Xandra as both were human biotics. He understood her pain with the biotic chips and discrimination from outsiders. It was a casual day of drinking that really cemented their bond. It was a bond forged with heart and flesh that kept them grounded during their travels but slowly dwindled as each mission challenged them. It was on Virmire that started to make a change in him. He was saved at the cost of a dear friend and comrade. It was a burden he couldn’t live with. It created a strain on their relationship and not soon after the SSV Normandy was no more. He was left to continue his service alone after losing a friend and now a loved one. In a twist of fate, he saw her again on Horizon. She was still the same but it was hard for him to believe it. He was told she was dead and had her dog tags to prove it. He would continue to question her existence until she joined the Alliance once again. Still wary of her, and couldn’t believe how trusting the old crew was. It was on their first mission back together that he started to understand that she was still the same person he fell in love with all those years ago. He made a vow to himself that this time he wouldn’t lose her a second time.

A human biotic and commander of the SSV Normandy. She bonded with Kaidan over their inhuman powers. She understood his pain as if it was her own. At first, they were restricted by ranks which she slowly broke down those barriers to get closer to him. Kaidan was the only person on the ship who didn’t question her drinking habits and she thanked him for that every time they met. Soon their friendship developed into something much more intimate which scared her at first. She wasn’t sure if it would work out between them or how the other crew members would react to their commanding officer dating another crew member. It was a struggle at first which only became worse when the missions became daunting. It was on Virmire that really took a toll on her. She had to make the tough call and chose her heart over her mind. This created a rift between the two of them that remained until her dying days on the SSV Normandy. She can still remember the sounds of the ship exploding, the fire that scorched her skin, and the moments of taking her last and final breaths as she was spaced. When she was revived, she understood that something was wrong. She no longer felt human but was told she was. She no longer felt the restrictions of her biotic implant and learned that some areas of her physique were stronger than before. When she traveled to Horizon and saw Kaidan once again she couldn’t refute his concerns as they were also hers. As time went on she rejoined the Alliance and set off on a mission with him. She understood he was still wary of her, but deep down inside it hurt. Still, she was the commander and as such, she needed to keep a leveled head. Xandra would continue fighting until her last stand before going off into retirement with someone close at her side.
