With spring finally in bloom, things are bustling in the square. Mycenians are planting gardens and tending to spring’s first sprouts, and the Sacred Tree is beginning to show off a handful of new leaves. There are quiet murmurs about some project Seelby has been sneaking off to tend to, and a fresh flyer has been posted on the community noticeboard.
Event Information
This event runs from April 11th at 12:00 noon ST through April 25th at 12:00 noon ST.
This is a word-building event, similar to last year’s spring event.
A quick rundown of type of event is that every 15 minutes, players collect a letter, and build words out of the letters they’ve collected to send to others for points.
There are also certain words that you can send to one of four shrines, each representing a different grove of flowering trees.
Once the shrines have received enough well-wishes, the trees will flower and an extra prize will be unlocked, which can be collected by anyone who sent at least one word to that shrine. This prize will not cost any event points, and can be collected at the now-blooming shrine.
When all four shrines have begun to bloom, a third event coat will be unlocked. This coat will not cost any event points to collect, and can be collected by anyone who’s sent at least one word to each of the four shrines.
Words may still be sent to shrines after they’ve bloomed, which gives everyone the opportunity to collect these extra prizes
Once the forest is in bloom, players may still send words to one another to earn points
Now that the event has concluded, we are ready to collect player feedback about the Spring Blossom Festival! There is also a place in the survey for you to list any words that you would like to see added to our dictionary for future spelling events. The feedback form will be open through the end of the day on May 10th.
We will be raffling off one random encounter event item per 10 responses.
The item each winner receives will be chosen randomly from the four depicted above.
This activity runs from May 30th through 23:59 ST on June 13th.
Participation Guidelines
Each player may submit up to 2 completed character sheets for credit
These character sheets may be made for any of the following:
Your own character (must have Mycenian representation, but does not need to adhere to Mycena Cave canon)
Yourself
Your IRL pet
You may use the sheets provided below, or create your own if you prefer! You may also edit any of the sheets provided here to your liking
Your completed character sheet must consist of at least the main page. If creating your own sheet, it must contain at least 3 sections. There is no limit to how many pages your sheet can be, if you’re feeling inspired.
All art used on your sheet must either be your own, or otherwise belong to you (gift art, commissions, etc). You are, of course, welcome to utilize Mycena Cave artwork for this activity.
All writing contained on your sheet must be your own work. You are welcome to take inspiration from other RPGs, but should not be directly copying any content from their source material.
You will earn a Possibilities Background for each character sheet you make, up to a maximum of 2.
Submitting at least 1 character sheet will also qualify you for this activity’s participation sticker
Additionally, we will be raffling off 1 Bag of Wonders per 10 individual participants! Each character sheet you submit (up to 2) will count as a ticket in that raffle.

Character Sheet Terminology
While players who are familiar with any number of RPGs will likely get the gist of most of the headings used on the sheets, here are some quick explanations for those who may be less familiar with the genre:
Attributes - A character’s physical and mental strengths/weaknesses. Also commonly referred to as ‘stats’. These are typically similar in most RPGs, though there is some variation in what each attribute tends to effect. You may use any set of attributes you wish (or make up your own!), but the ones provided are:
Strength - A character’s physical strength
Defense - A character’s physical defense
Resilience - How quickly/well a character can recover from a negative physical condition or attack (the difference between getting back up after being knocked down vs. staying down)
Dexterity - How agile, quick, deft the character is
Magic - A character’s magical ability
Intelligence - How well-studied/‘book-smart’ a character is
Wisdom - Measurement of a character’s common sense/spiritual/‘street-smart’ knowledge
Charisma - A character’s social skills/presence of self
Profession/Specialty - A character’s class/subclass, archetype, or career
Traits - Can be interpreted as personality traits or special aspects of a character/their power (i.e., speaking to animals; unwilling to surrender)
Skills - Specific attacks or spells known by the character
Bonds - Relationships/connections your character has to other people, places, things, or organizations
Q&A
You are welcome to participate using images found around Mycena Cave, or by simply writing out your character’s appearance instead of having a traditional portrait of them! Writing-heavy character sheets are just as valid as those that rely on artwork!
The Town Square is all dolled up in streamers, and confetti floats freely through the air. All around, folks are dressed in party hats and sharing bites of cake and other confections as they celebrate a cheerful anniversary. It’s even rumored that someone is going around tossing sprinkles at unsuspecting Mycenians….
Use your imagination to create a new Combinabulator recipe, and the item it creates
Use at least three of the fishing hole items depicted below to make up your recipe
Your recipe submission should consist of the needed items and an explanation or artistic depiction of the item that they would create.
Entry Guidelines:
Written descriptions must be at least 100 words in length and include a name for the item, a physical description of the item itself, as well as a description of the placement and/or effect it would have when equipped to a Mycenian.
Artistic depictions must be at least at the level of a cleaned sketch. They may be created as a mock-up style item using our Mycenian lineart or as a standalone piece, but must include placement information for when equipped to a Mycenian.
Each player may submit a maximum of 3 recipes for this activity.
You may include all of your recipes in a single post or create a new post for each recipe.
Use any combination of the ingredients below to create your recipe! Feel free to be as creative as you like with the item they combine to create — Professor Sprocket has rigged his Combinabulator to add just the right amount of magic to a recipe’s ingredients to make the product much more than just the sum of its parts.

Participation & Prizes:
Creation of at least 1 recipe will earn you this activity’s participation prize: Birthday Surprise, an avatar background!
Each recipe will count as one raffle ticket (maximum 3 per player) . At the end of the activity, we will be raffling off:
1 Bag of Wonders for every 15 unique participants
1 Changingshroom for every 25 unique participants
1 Glowing Changingshroom for every 50 unique participants
Additionally, we will be selecting 5 recipes to be made into site items, with their recipes available via opening a Recipe Bottle. The creator of each of these recipes will receive a copy of their crafting item, as well as the recipe to create said item.
Transparent Lines: Note for those editing/coloring the transparent lines with a digital art program: copy/pasting the images directly into an art program will sometimes result in getting an image that looks like a black square, so if you’re having that issue, save the images first rather than copy/pasting.
Hoy, travelers, and welcome to Cobblestone Cavern! We may be a small community, but the few of us who make our homes here are always happy to welcome adventurers into our midst. Cobbletown has a wealth of secrets to discover, and true adventure surely awaits for any who dare brave the Soup. Just make sure you stop by the Wet Trout at some point and fill me in on the details, eh?Finnigan
Event Information
This event will end August 25th at 12:00 (noon) Server Time
This event will run from July 25th at 12:00 (noon) ST through August 25th at 12:00 (noon) ST.
The prize shop opens on July 27th at 23:59 and will remain open until August 31st at 23:59.
This is meant to be a very early prototype and test of a Cave Map project we’d like to do down the line. As such, it differs from the previous events listed in that it will more heavily feature lore-building activities. Ideally, we’d like players to be able to contribute to our permanent maps and this is aimed at testing and getting feedback on how that could work.
Because the lore-building aspect is more time consuming than our standard event activities, this event will run a month to give players time to complete them. There will still be activities that can be completed quickly as well, but the event run time will allow players to complete them within a larger time frame than usual.
We received positive feedback for the play-at-your-own-pace style of event, so all of the activities will be available from the start.
There will be 9 item prizes and 2 coats in the prize shop for this event, as well as a sticker to collect.
There will be 4 new random encounter items and 3 new game drop items (one for each event game) that can be acquired too. These are recolors of the main event items and will not be event-exclusive (i.e. they will be released through some other means too, like how we are releasing the Grove Shrine backgrounds, which were random encounter items from the last event, through the seasonal shops). This is updated from the original event announcement—we ended up shifting around mechanics and adding an item.
Text List of Activities in the Event Hub

To-Do
There are a couple of projects we are actively working on:
Game drops - the games do not currently drop items as we are trying to integrate this with our random encounter system and haven’t quite finished. We should have this up and running some time on July 26th. done!
Submission form for Into the Unknown - this is currently being finished up as well, but should be available in the near future done!
If you find any bugs or event errors, please reach out to either glitch or Myla! We are also going to be keeping our eye on the games, particularly Snish and Bumbleberry Brew, to make sure the difficulty of the games are calibrated correctly.
Activity Grading Timeline
Our goal is to keep on top of activity grading by committing to doing so at least once per week throughout the event duration, in the interest of allowing players to claim prizes as soon as possible. While we will try to do so throughout the week, our designated marking day for activities will be every Saturday. Questions about activity marking and credit can be directed to Myla and Crow.
This activity will run from 00:01 ST on September 1st through 23:59 ST on September 30th.
Each week in September will have its own Drawntlet thread, in which you will submit your pieces. Weeks run from Sunday 00:01 ST through the next Sunday at 23:59 ST.
With the exception of the first and last weeks, which are not full weeks.
The current week’s thread will stop accepting submissions after 23:59 ST on Sunday, and the new week’s thread will start accepting submissions on 00:01 ST on Sunday. Note that this is a one day overlap. The next week will start while the previous week is still accepting submissions. This is to allow players more flexibility with the current week’s deadlines.
Once a week is over, you may no longer submit any prompts from that period of time for credit. This helps to keep the spirit of a small piece per day(-ish), rather than having folks burn themselves out by trying to rush all 30 pieces at the end of the month.
In addition to posting your pieces in the thread to share with the community, you will be asked to utilize our submission form to submit your pieces for credit
This will be done much like the previous event, in that you will be pasting the permalink to each day’s submission and we will assign credit by marking them as complete.
The final week’s thread will close at 23:59 ST ST on October 1st, which will mark the end of this activity. Prize selection will run throughout October to allow everyone ample time to choose their prizes.
Discussion throughout the duration of this activity is welcome in this thread!
Participation guidelines:
Each day, choose a prompt from the weekly prompt bank provided, and create a piece of artwork or writing based on or inspired by it, then post your piece in the current week’s Drawntlet thread.
You may select any of the prompts in the current week’s prompt bank, but each prompt may only be used once.
As this activity focuses on daily participation, we would like each of your pieces to be submitted in its own post.
Please use the small form provided in each week’s thread to submit your pieces.
There are no minimum requirements for your pieces to meet - though we encourage written pieces to be kept relatively short; somewhere in the realm of a couple hundred words.
You may not skip ahead by posting prompts beyond the the current date, but may ‘play catch up’ by tackling previous days’ prompts - as long as they are submitted in the current week’s thread and submitted to the submission interface by the end of the week.
Though it is not required for this activity, we always encourage some level of relevance to characters that exist on Mycena Cave for activities such as this.
Gift art of other peoples’ characters, and fan art of other properties are both accepted for this activity. Please give proper credit where necessary.
Weekly spotlight:
Much like last year’s Inktober activity, we will be curating a selection of ‘spotlight’ entries to share on our social media each week. If one of your pieces is selected, you will receive credit in the post, and will also receive a Bag of Wonders. In the interest of fairness, an individual player will not be spotlighted more than once over the course of the month.
Points and Prizes:
Each day is worth 1 point, which means a player may earn up to 30 points for participating in this activity.
Players who complete at least 5 days of this activity will receive a sticker
Players who complete all 30 days of this activity will also receive a Spirograph Frame!
Prizes are organized into a tiered prize shop, where each costs a certain amount of points to claim. Players are not limited to how many prizes of each tier they can choose, so long as they have enough points to do so.
Prize Table, at a glance:
30 points: discovered gcs coat of choice**
25 points: GCS mushroom | gold medallion
20 points: choice of past oots set (mushroom + items) | choice of seasonal coat
15 points: choice of past oots item set | choice of BoW item | choice of seasonalshroom | changingshroom
10 points: september oots set (mushroom + items) | bag of wonders | driftshroom | choice of cave capsule
5 points: forever coat | random cave capsule | september oots item set
1 point: golden ticket
**GCS coat of choice includes the two newest coats we’ve added for this event: Troutrageous and Glimmering Kiss
Weekly deadlines:
Week One: 23:59 ST on Sunday September 5th Week Two: 23:59 ST on Sunday September 12th Week Three: 23:59 ST on Sunday September 19th Week Four: 23:59 ST on Sunday September 26th Week Five: 23:59 ST on Wednesday October 1st
***Please note that, with the exception of the final week, each week has a Sunday deadline. This overlaps with the start of the next week. This was done intentionally to give players an extra day to get the previous week’s prompts submitted***
Can I use the pieces I create for this activity towards this month’s Cavern of Reflections?
Absolutely, as long as they meet the activity requirements!
You and a group of like-minded Mycenians charter a boat to—well, you’re not exactly sure where, but you have a feeling you’ll know it when you see it. The place ends up being a rocky reef, out in the middle of an otherwise picturesque, shimmering sea. The light is bright and the sea is calm, and below its surface are more species of coral than you can count.
At first, it doesn’t seem this is a place in need of any sort of help. It’s picturesque and peaceful; almost magical. Curious, you dive into the pristine waters—maybe whatever you’re looking for is hidden among the coral somewhere?
As soon as you’re submerged, you feel it—a strange heaviness in your limbs; a fog that clouds your thoughts. Even your heart seems to slow—like just pumping the blood through your veins is suddenly a struggle. Below you, resting among the rainbow reef, lie the ruins of an ancient city. Toppled buildings, overgrown and encrusted by the bright polyps; broken down, ancient magi-machinery; what look to be Lost Mycenians scattered among the wreckage. A vague echo of the screams and sobs of the city’s final day reverberates between your ears—threatens to physically pull you down into the ruins’ midst.
It’s all too much—the pressure seems to build, and a cough is forced out of your lungs as you slowly sink into the depths. And then, suddenly, everything stops—the air mysteriously returns to your lungs and you crack your eyes open to find a curious little creature smiling inches from your face.
“You came.” It says, that same distant, echoing voice from before in your head. This time, instead of panic, you feel a sense of relief in its tone.
You and the creature gently float back up to the surface—and then clear out of the water, the two of you encased within a shimmering bubble. It sets you gently upon the deck of the boat and the bubble shrinks away until only the frilly-gilled little creature remains floating within it, its silly little smile unwavering.
“Welcome to Nautalis, friends. We have much work to do.”
Event Information
This event will run from October 24th at 12:00 ST (noon) through November 7th at 12:01 ST (noon).
This event is similar to last autumn’s Siege of Saltrock Cove event in that you will be collecting and combining components, and then using those components to play a game similar to Battleship.
This year, this is framed as you collecting remnant bits of magic from the ruins, and combining them into potions, which will allow you to remain within the city for varying amounts of time (aka, different numbers of clicks on the game board). Instead of monster hunting, this year we are conducting a search-and-rescue mission for the ‘Lost’ denizens of Nautalis, as well as re-imbuing their ancient machinery with magic in an effort to restore the city.
The event prize shop will open on October 31st, and close on November 27th. As has become standard, players will be able to buy event points with gems.
Unused embuebbles crumble into points 24 hours after the event ends. Potions will crumble when the shop closes. Within 24 hours of the shop closing, any unused Boons you’ve received will convert to 50 nuggets apiece and any leftover points will be used to buy chests as efficiently as possible. Any remaining points will be converted into 100 nuggets apiece.
There are several event-specific random encounters, including two which give out new item recolors as a gift.
There’s a gentle, sweet scent wafting through the air, beckoning you toward one of the warmly lit buildings near the marketplace. The door is propped open, even in this chilly weather, and you can hear the soft murmur of conversations mingled with the occasional squeal of childish laughter emanating from within. The whole exterior is done up for the holidays—it looks just like a gingerbread house, complete with delicious-looking candy-inspired accents. It must have taken hours to put together… you swear it was just a normal building last time you were in town.
As you step inside, careful not to tread snow beyond the threshold, you are greeted by the familiar sight of Darcy’s Kitchen, except all of her usual products have been set aside to make room for several long tables, at which handfuls of young Mycenians are gathered, surrounded by bowls of frosting and sprinkles and other tasty accoutrements. Darcy herself is stationed behind the counter, expertly juggling sheet pans of freshly baked cookies coming out of the ovens with the chilled dough ready to go in.
She catches your eye as you enter, and for a moment you pause, worried that you’ve interrupted some sort of private function. Her gaze is stern as always, but it doesn’t linger. “Come in; don’t just linger in the doorway.” She says, sliding a handful of cooled cookies onto a platter and offering them your way. “We’re decorating cookies. Take a seat wherever you like, and don’t mind the mess. The kits will be cleaning up after themselves before they leave.”
Participation Guidelines
Decorate some cookies using the bases provided below! You may choose to draw your own cookie shapes if you prefer, or can even bake and decorate real life cookies for participation** (they do not need to be Mycena Cave inspired)!
Each player may decorate up to four cookies for credit
We are looking for approximately 10+ minutes of effort for each cookie decoration you create
Any medium may be used - if you prefer to write a tantalizing description of your cookie, you are welcome to do so!
This activity ends after 23:59ST on December 19th. Any entries posted (or posts edited) after this point will not be counted!
Rewards & Raffle
Decorating at least 1 cookie will earn you a Festive Garland Frame, a Winter Celebration avatar background, and a participation sticker. Decorating more than one cookie will not earn you additional copies of the items or sticker.
Each cookie you decorate (up to 4 per player) will enter your name into a raffle which will be pulled at the conclusion of the activity. Each of the 10 winners pulled will receive a randomly selected Cave Capsule!
**Cookies made IRL will count for 2 entries (still up to 4 total per player) due to the additional time/effort required.

The morning of the first day of spring, Mycenians gather in the heart of the caves and celebrate the Three—the sorceress, the wanderer, and the Bone Monster. This tradition began in the early years of the cave, and comprises of a day-long festival, followed by three separate expeditions to honor the three most important figures in the history of the caves.
The festival lasts from the early hours of the morning until sundown. Mycenians enjoy bountiful feasts and play a variety of games, while elderly Mycenians gather to tell stories of the early days of the caves. As the sun begins to set, they begin to prepare for the second part of the their gathering. They separate into three groups, all of them bearing baskets full of ripe fruit and fresh flowers.
The first group, comprised mostly of the elderly and children, travel to the Wanderer’s Grotto, where they listen to stories of the Wanderer’s journey. There, they leave gifts of carver’s tools and relics, thanking the Wanderder for their lives and celebrating the joys of life. At the grotto, artisans will carve flowers and figures into the walls of the cave.
The second group, most of which are the young and bold Mycenians, travel to the cave entrance to thank the Bone Monster for guarding their home. There, they leave treats for the Bone Monster and decorate the entrance with garlands and wreaths. The most daring of Mycenians play a game to see who can get the closest to the entrance without stirring the beast.
The third group is composed of only the bravest Mycenians. They travel deep into the echelons of the caves, only stopping when they reach the ends of the mapped locations. There, at the yawning mouth of the shadows caves, they leave lanterns of glow worms and offering of food and drink so that if the sorceress ever appears, she could be led home.
The three expeditions reconvene in the main caverns at sunrise and share a final and simple feast before retreating to their homes and spending the rest of the day in repose.
The event will start at 12:00 noon ST on January 23rd and run through the end of the day on February 6th.
This event, based on the Mycenian Tradition submission by sweaters, will comprise of three small creative activities - each meant to symbolize one of the three journeys traditionally undertaken during this celebration. Each activity will have its own set of participation guidelines and prize.
Participation in at least one of the associated activities will earn you the event sticker.
Each activity will have its own submission thread, and will be linked from both the announcement post and the Town Square page.
At the end of the event, a prize thread will be created where you can select your prizes based on your participation.
The Activities
The Wanderer: Carve a Companion
In reverence of the Wandering Stone Carver, create a Mycenian coat! At least three player-created coats will become official Forever coats.
The Bone Monster: Gift or Gallop
Create a piece of artwork or writing depicting your Mycenian either leaving a gift for the terrifying Bone Monster or tempting their fate by seeing just how close to the entrance they can get.
The Sorceress: Eat, Drink, and Glow
Leave a snack, drink, or glowing lantern at the far reaches of the known Cave to help guide the Sorceress home from wherever it is she’s disappeared to.
This event runs from March 13th at 12:00 noon ST through March 27th at 12:00 noon ST.
This is a word-building event, similar to previous years’ spring events. For those unfamiliar with this type of event, here’s a brief rundown:
Every 15 minutes, players are able to collect a letter, then use the letters they’ve collected to build words which they can send to other players for event points.
There are also certain words that you can send to one of four Forces of Nature. The goal is to quiet them, which can be done by completing each word list as a community.
Once the Forces of Nature have their respective word lists completed, they will grant an extra prize, which can be collected by anyone who sent at least one word to that shrine. This prize will not cost any event points, and can be collected once per player per word list.
The prizes for quieting the Forces of Nature are: Primordial Swamp Background, Prehistoric Volcano Background, Glacial Ridge Background, Ancient Fissure Background
When all four Forces of Nature have been quieted, a third event coat will be unlocked. This coat will not cost any event points to collect, and can be collected by anyone who’s sent at least one word to each of the four Forces.
The coat prize for quieting the Forces of Nature is: Raptor mycenae
Words may still be sent to Forces of Nature after they’ve been quieted, which gives everyone the opportunity to collect these extra prizes!
Once all of the word lists are completed, players will continue to collect points by sending each other words.
Extra copies of the background items and Raptor mycenae coat/mushroom will be purchasable for gems in the prize shop after all the Forces of Nature have been quieted.
As in our previous events, there will be a number of Random Encounters added to the site. Some of these will be just for flavor, but there are a few which will award items.
The items available through Random Encounters are: Tiger Sash, Falling Embers, Blue Prehistoric Pal, and White Thylacine Stripes
Following the conclusion of the event, these items will be added to the seasonal shops.
The prize shop will open on March 20th and remain open through April 9th.
All players who send at least one word over the course of the event will receive a sticker to commemorate their participation.
Similar to some activities we’ve run in the past, this activity has two categories - one based on your characters and one based on you, the player. For each category, your task is to show us a personal room, house, or other space that is important to you or your character. This can be a home, a safe or special place, or a “dream” space. You may complete this activity through art or writing, with specific guidelines provided below.

The entry may be created in any medium, from drawing to creating a depiction of the space in another game such as Minecraft.
Your piece must show a reasonable amount of effort equivalent to at least the level of a clean sketch.

Prizes
The participation prize for this activity is the Cottage Garden Background. Each player may earn up to two participation prizes - one for entering a piece into the character category and one for entering a piece into the player category. All participants will also receive a sticker.
Raffle
In addition to the Cottage Garden Background, we will be raffling off one random Cave Capsule for every 10 unique participants. This raffle will be drawn on May 22nd, following the conclusion of the activity.
Through any creative means you prefer, we are seeking to take a glimpse into a typical (or even not-so-typical) day in the life of the denizens of Mycena Cave. This piece could focus on either yourself or one of your characters, and does not need to be limited to Cave canon!

This activity will run from 00:01 ST on July 1st through 23:59 ST on July 31st.
Each week in July will have its own Drawntlet thread, in which you will submit your pieces. Weeks run from Monday at 00:01 ST through the following Sunday at 23:59 ST.
With the exception of the first week of the month, which is not a full week.
Each weekly submission thread will open on Monday at 00:01 ST and close after 23:59 ST on the following Monday. Note that there is a slight overlap. The next week will start while the previous week is still accepting submissions - this is to allow players more flexibility with the current week’s deadlines.
Once a week is over, you may no longer submit any prompts from that period of time for credit. This helps to keep to the spirit of creating something each day, rather than having folks burn themselves out by trying to rush all 30 pieces at the end of the month.
In addition to posting your pieces in the thread to share with the community, you will be asked to utilize our submission form to submit your pieces for credit
This will be done much like last year’s activity, in that you will be pasting the permalink to your post containing each day’s submission, and we will assign credit by marking them as complete.
The final week’s thread will close at 23:59 ST on August 1st, which will mark the end of this activity. Prize selection will run throughout August to allow everyone ample time to choose their prizes.
Discussion throughout the duration of this activity is welcome in this thread!
Participation guidelines:
Each day, you will be provided with a prompt (or, may select a different prompt from the weekly prompt bank provided), and create a piece of artwork or writing based on or inspired by it, then post your piece in the current week’s Drawntlet thread.
If the day’s standard prompt doesn’t vibe with you, you may select any of the prompts in the current week’s prompt bank instead. Each prompt may only be used once.
As this activity focuses on daily participation, each of your pieces should be submitted in its own post.
Please use the small form provided in each week’s thread to submit your pieces. This will help us to mark participation and select spotlight pieces quickly and efficiently.
Your pieces do not need to relate to Mycena Cave or be of characters that have on-site representations.
Gift art of other peoples’ characters, and fan art of other properties are both accepted for this activity. Please give proper credit where necessary.
Updated guideline: If you are submitting an art entry with a major portion of the entry not done by you, such as AI generated art or editing/coloring other artwork, please include what you’ve done and ensure the source explicitly allows sharing and editing. Please refer to this post for further details.
Clarified guideline: All works must be newly created for the Drawntlet.
Weekly Challenges:
Based upon feedback from last year’s Drawntlet, we have brought back the optional weekly challenges!
Each week, you will have the choice between two weekly theme challenges.
If you wish to participate in a challenge for any given week, all of your pieces for that week must adhere to that challenge’s guidelines. You may not mix and match pieces between the two challenges.
Each weekly challenge completed will earn you 2 extra points to spend in the prize shop. This means each player may earn up to 10 extra points over the course of the Drawntlet!
Weekly spotlight:
As in previous iterations of this activity, we will be curating a selection of ‘spotlight’ entries to share on our social media each week. Thes pieces will also be collected at the bottom of the Town Square page. If one of your pieces is selected, you will receive credit in the post, and will also receive a Bag of Wonders. In the interest of fairness, an individual player will not be spotlighted more than once over the course of the month.
Points and Prizes:
Each day for which you submit a piece will earn you 1 point
Each weekly challenge completed will earn you an extra 2 points
In total, by completing all 31 days and all 5 weekly challenges, each player may earn up to 41 points to spend in the prize shop.
Players who complete at least 5 days of this activity will receive a sticker
Players who complete all 31 days of this activity will also receive a Scholarly Frame!

10 points: july OR august oots set (mushroom + items) | choice of cave capsule | bag of wonders | changingshroom | choice of past event coat
5 points: forever coat | random cave capsule | july OR august oots item set | choice of past event item

**GCS coat of choice includes two new coats added for this event: Inkpot and Toile
Weekly deadlines:
Week One: 23:59 ST on Monday July 4th Week Two: 23:59 ST on Monday July 11th Week Three: 23:59 ST on Monday July 18th Week Four: 23:59 ST on Monday July 25th Week Five: 23:59 ST on Monday August 1st
***Please note that each week’s deadline falls Monday, which overlaps with the start of the next week. This was done intentionally to give players an extra day to get the previous week’s prompts submitted***
Can I use the pieces I create for this activity towards this month’s Cavern of Reflections?
Absolutely, as long as they meet the activity requirements!
Can the pieces I submit for this activity be artwork created for another activity happening elsewhere (i.e., art fight; other off-site exchanges)?
As long as your piece was created with the daily prompt in mind, yes!
Oh no - I forgot to submit one of my pieces to the submission page before it closed!
Accidents happen! Echo Crow and she will make sure you receive credit for it - though this allowance is subject to change if it becomes a regular issue!
Excitement is in the air. Literally—the cheerful rising and falling melodies of a calliope grow louder and louder, trumpeting the arrival of the Summer Sunset Carnival!
One by one, the tents and booths are unfurled and hoisted, colorful pennants strung betwixt their striped awnings. Rides of all sorts—from the cheerful carousel with its colorful menagerie of mounts, to the spinning nightmare that is the Scrambler, to the towering Ferris wheel—are erected seemingly overnight. Blinking lights; musical mayhem; the lingering smell of fryer oil—what was just yesterday a sleepy empty lot has transformed into a playground for Mycenians of all ages.
The fliers that have been posted around town with almost obnoxious frequency provide all the necessary details:
The Summer Sunset Carnival!
In town for two weeks only! Gates open at 12:00 ST on August 21st!
Fun, Games, Prizes!!!
Event Information
The Summer Sunset Carnival will begin at 12:00ST on August 21st and run through 23:59 ST on September 4th.
This event consists of several forum-based activities, participation in which will earn you Carnival Tickets to be spent in the Prize Booth. The Prize Booth will remain open through September 11th.
There will also be a handful of event-flavored Random Encounters, from which you may receive a special item (which will later be available for purchase in our seasonal shops).
The activities in this event will be marked manually, with a spreadsheet available for viewing where we will note participants’ current points.
Prizes will also be distributed manually.
We will try our best to keep up with grading and prize distribution throughout the event, but please be patient with us!
Each activity will have its own set of submission guidelines, which will be outlined in the activity thread.
The activities for this event are:(links will be added at event launch)
A Day at the Carnival
Creative Cartomancy
Carnival Chow
Natural Wonders
Help Wanted: Haunted House
There will also be two chance-based games-slash-giveaways, where every player is guaranteed some sort of prize at the end of the event. Each player may participate once in each game.
The games for this event are:
Balloon Popping
“Duck” Race
Participation in at least 2 activities will earn you the event sticker!
This event runs from Nov 6th (at noon ST) through the end of Nov 20th.
This event is similar in style to previous Fall events, in that you will be collecting and combining components, and then using those components to play a game similar to Battleship.
This year, you will be collecting charms from Bardouk’s workspace and combining them into wards. You will then use those wards to capture fairies throughout the Withering Wood. Captured fairies will grant players different boons, which have various effects on the event mechanics.
The event prize shop will open on November 13th and close after 23:59 ST on November 27th. Players will once again be able to purchase event points with gems.
Unused charms and wards will crumble into points 24 hours after the event ends. Within 24 hours of the shop closing, any unused boons you’ve received will convert to 50 nuggets apiece and any leftover points will be used to buy prize bottles as efficiently as possible. Any remaining points thereafter will be converted into 100 nuggets apiece.
There are several event-specific random encounters, including two which give out new item recolors as a gift.
“First thing’s first,” Bardouk says, producing a hefty-looking tome and dropping it into your hands. He flips it open to about halfway through—from what little you see of its pages, it seems to be some sort of journal or field notebook. “If yer goin’ to be fae-catchin’, ye need to know yer enemies.”
The page he’s opened to depicts several creatures, each one expertly drawn with notes scrawled alongside. Judging by the scattered smudges and inkspatters, you assume it must have been compiled by the feycatcher himself. The art is surprisingly good—but before you can compliment him on it, he’s tapping impatiently at the top of the page.
“These here seem t’be the creatures infestin’ the area. Mind ye, there’s countless more fairies out there, but s’far as I can tell, these’re the ones we’ll be wardin’ against. Now, study up; commit ‘em to memory. Ye won’t have time t’be rustlin’ through yer notes out in the field.”
Nettlenixies
Don’t let their small, cute appearance fool you — these little fairies are quite sinister. They seem to actively enjoy causing distress to Mycenians, and when enough of them get together, they can even create constructs that have some semblance of life. They tend to act as bullies and ringleaders to the other fey folk, many of whom would be perfectly happy to exist quietly if not for the influence of these puckish pixies.
Toddlewhumps
Slow moving and relatively docile, so long as they are left to their own devices. They seem to enjoy plodding through the forest, turning up fresh soil as they go. Do not anger them, however - they are capable of throwing quite the tantrum, causing branches and trees to topple down all around from their stomping. Sorceress forbid the target of their ire were to lose footing and fall to the ground; they would absolutely move in for the kill.
Mistaking them for a pleasant place to sit or tripping over them is a surefire way to incite their temper.
Tattynibblers
Often seem to turn up in root cellars and gardens of the communities they infest. They are capable of inducing fantastic plant growth with their magic, but seem much more inclined to sow sorrow by devouring any subterranean vegetation they can find. Nothing quite like heading down to the root cellar to find the entirety of your winter stores gone, and a fat, sleepy turnip thing in their place.
Whifflewights
Spreaders of decay, these curious little fairies are relatively harmless in small numbers. They do, however, multiply at a startling rate. They seem drawn to busy places, and are typically the first fey folk an unsuspecting Mycenian encounters. Treated gently, they could almost make good companions. However, when frightened or upon suffering just about any unexpected impact, they release a surprising amount of spores… which leads to more of these little fairies springing up.
Left to reproduce unfettered, they have been known to overtake and devour entire settlements, leaving only structures and bones in their wake.
Creepypeepers
These shy fairies are unlikely to cause anyone problems directly. They seem to be curious about Mycenians, but are woefully bashful, often squeezing their eyes shut or turning away when looked at directly. However, they do tend to follow the target of their interest… and where one finds an interesting Mycenian to watch, there are surely others. This can lead to even familiar forest paths becoming obscured, leaving travelers hopelessly lost within the trees. These fey folk seem to either not understand or not particularly care about the distress this can cause, and have been known to continue following their quarry until they perish.
Every year, sometime in midwinter, the moon passes across a large opening in the ceiling of the Cave, showering the cavern below in its light. This is not an illusion, or some deep-Cave phenomenon that imitates the moon’s light and countenance — but the actual, physical moon. The one that exists Outside.
The moon’s yearly visit to the denizens of the Cave loosely marks the beginning of a new year. Mycenians from all over gather in the cavern to socialize and celebrate. This convergence has come to be known as the Lunar Luck Festival, as local legend states that basking in the moon’s silvery light is bound to bring good luck for the year ahead.
Event Information
The Lunar Luck Festival will begin at 12:00 ST on January 22nd and run through the end of the day on February 5th.
This event consists of a handful of forum-based activities and one chance-based game.
Participation in at least 1 activity will earn you the event sticker
Participation in each activity will earn you a Lucky Envelope
Each Lucky Envelope contains a random Cave Capsule
Participation in at least 2 activities will earn you a Fireworks item
Participation in at least 3 activities will earn you a Year of the Rabbit Mushroom
Each activity will have its own set of submission rules and guidelines.
There will also be a handful of event-flavored Random Encounters, from which you may receive a Wearable Lucky Envelope!
The activities in this event will be marked manually. We will try to keep up with marking and prize distribution throughout the event!
It’s hard to believe it, but Mycena Cave has been around 10 whole years! As I reflect upon this milestone, I’m feeling very grateful to each person who has contributed their time, energy, and passion to help shape this little corner of the web. Whether you are a visitor, a contributor, or a steadfast member, your presence has been the lifeblood that keeps us chugging along. <3 Cheers to you all, and thank you for everything!
We have a few things going on for our birthday this year; a gift, a couple of activities, two new permanent games, a look at the past 10 years, the dory, and of course the launch of summer!
Thanks goes to Plaid and Loon for making the gifts, we hope you enjoy them!
Activities
Party Flavors
Nothing says ‘celebration’ quite like a big ol’ get-together — and no type of gathering heralds the warmth of summer more than a block party! Local Mycenians have decided to throw one such bash, in honor of the tenth anniversary of their little community. It promises to boast quite the crowd, so everyone is invited to bring along a dish to share with their friends and neighbors—head this way!
Boney Bashing
It’s a bird! No, it’s a plane! Wait, what is that strange looking thing dangling from the Bone Monster’s paw?
You can blame Crow for this one
...need I show more? Come hit the Boney-shaped piñata here!
New Games
We’ve released two new games, Remembery, a memory game, and Sprocket’s Secrets, a minesweeper game! These are games we’ve previously tested out and gotten positive feedback on. Payouts will likely need to be adjusted after we collect more data.
This game has been played by Mycenians from a young age as a means to enhance their memory skills. Although it was initially bestowed with an official name, the children affectionately embraced it as “Remembery,” a title that has since become synonymous with the game.
Note: You can set the theme for the game in the Community Settings menu! Choose between forest foraging, circus scarabs, or gone fishing
The game will presents a grid of cards, face down. Each card has a matching pair somewhere in the grid, and the objective is to find all the matching pairs by flipping over two cards at a time.
Click to reveal its face and then, click or tap on another card to reveal its face as well. If the two cards you revealed match, they will remain face up. If the cards do not match, they will automatically flip back face down. The game ends once you have found all the matching pairs.
Sprocket has buried highly volatile electronomers* underground. Your job is to do a survey of the area, marking the sites of potential electronomers that should be excavated by trained specialists. Be careful not to disturb the electronomers!
*Electronomers were created by Sprocket for his Marvelous Meteorologic Machine. Once that project was scaled back, the extra components should have been safely disassembled. Clearly, Sprocket had other plans.
This game is similar to Minesweeper. Click a field to excavate it, or right-click it to mark it as an electronomer. Numbers indicate how many adjacent fields contain electronomers. But be careful! If you excavate on a field with an electronomer, you’ll detonate it and have to start over!
Note: you can also toggle between excavating-mode and marking-mode, to help in case your device does not have the ability to right-click
The number on the square is the number of electronomers touching that square, including on the diagonal
There is one electronomer on this board, shown here. The tiles surrounding it will display the number 1, since they are touching one electronomer. On this board, there are two electronomers. The top middle tile is touching both of the electronomers, and thus will be labeled with the number two. In the middle row, the first and last tiles are touching one electronomer each, and are labeled with the number one. The middle tile is touching both electronomers on the diagonal, so is labeled with the number two. In the bottom row, none of the tiles are touching electronomers and would not be labeled with a number—they will disappear once you click them.
Flag squares that are likely electronomers.
Flag the electronomer for the specialists. They are experts at digging up delicate electronomers! In this board, you would need two flags to mark the electronomers because there are two instead of one like on the board above.
Click on squares that are likely not electronomers. The tile will disappear if there are no electronomers touching it, or it will reveal a number.
There are no other electronomers on this board since otherwise the number tiles would have indicated they were touching more than one electronomer. Clicking any of the tiles that are left will clear the area.
On the two electronomers board, this how the completed board would look. All of the tiles have either been flagged or clicked.
The game is over once you’ve clicked any tile that isn’t an electronomer. Specialists will come in and excavate all the flagged areas.
Don’t detonate the Electronomers!
Cheers to 10 Years
10 Year Timeline
It’s easy to forget how bare bones Mycena Cave started compared to where we’re at today. Check out all we’ve managed to do in the past 10 years here!
A Look Back at Events
We’ve hosted many events—if you’re feeling nostalgic, take a look at all the fun we’ve had here!
It’s Summertime!
Seasonal Selection
As always, with a new season comes a new mushroom variety to snack on! Summer Seasonal mushrooms are now available in Tamshir’s Specialties! This season’s stock will remain available until Autumn officially arrives on September 23rd.
Chadwick’s Summer Snack Shack is back in business!
The cat returns with this year’s hottest summer fashion trends (as well as retro styles from years prior). He’ll be keeping his Summer Snack Shack open until 23:59ST on July 20th, after which he’ll be riding off into the sunset until next year!
Meow, meowmeow! Mrooooow!
It’s Item Dory Time!
It’s time for the annual Item Dory—how won-dory-ful! We want to hear about the kinds of items the community is interested in seeing, broad or specific. You can submit your wishes to the Dory, and then share your interest on the other ideas players have submitted! Collecting this data is very helpful to our artists and coordinators, who often refer to the most recent Dory results to help guide our creative processes. Do note, though, that submitting an idea to the dory does not guarantee that it will be used!
The Dory will remain open through 23:59 ST on July 4th.
This activity will run from 00:01 ST on July 1st through 23:59 ST on July 31st.
Each week in July will have its own Drawntlet thread, in which you will submit your pieces. Weeks run from Sunday at 00:01 ST through the following Saturday at 23:59 ST.
The first and last weeks of the month are eight days long due to how the month fell.
Each weekly submission thread will open at some point on Saturday and close after 23:59 ST on the following Sunday.
Once the thread for a week is open, you may begin posting your prompts in it. Pieces do not have to be posted on the corresponding day.
Note that there is a slight overlap in the opening/closing dates for each week.
This will be done much like previous years’ activity, in that you will be pasting the permalink to your post containing each day’s submission, and we will assign credit by marking them as complete.
The final week’s thread will close at 23:59 ST on August 1st, which will mark the end of this activity. Prize selection will run throughout August to allow everyone ample time to choose their prizes.
Discussion throughout the duration of this activity is welcome in this thread!
Participation guidelines:
Each day, you will be provided with a prompt (or, may select a different prompt from the weekly prompt bank provided), and create a creative piece on or inspired by it, then post your piece in the current week’s Drawntlet thread.
All pieces must be newly created for the Drawntlet.
There are no minimum requirements for your pieces to meet - an honest effort is all we ask.
AI generated artwork and writing is not permitted for this activity. Utilizing AI to generate ideas or general composition is okay, but the final piece must be entirely your own work.
Your pieces do not need to relate to Mycena Cave or be of characters that have on-site representations.
Gift art/writing of other peoples’ characters, and fanwork of other properties are both accepted for this activity. Please give proper credit where necessary.
Weekly Challenges:
Each week, you will have the choice between two weekly theme challenges. These challenges are entirely optional.
If you wish to participate in a challenge for any given week, all of your pieces for that week must adhere to that challenge’s guidelines. You may not mix and match pieces between the two challenges.
Each weekly challenge completed will earn you 5 extra points to spend in the prize shop. This means each player may earn up to 20 extra points over the course of the Drawntlet!
Weekly spotlight:
As in previous iterations of this activity, we will be curating a selection of ‘spotlight’ entries to share on our social media each week. These pieces will also be collected at the bottom of the Town Square page. If one of your pieces is selected, you will receive credit in the post, and will also receive a Bag of Wonders. In the interest of fairness, an individual player will not be spotlighted more than once over the course of the month.
Points and Prizes:
Each day for which you submit a piece will earn you 1 point —> Completing prompts for all days in a week will earn you 10 points total.
Each weekly challenge completed will earn you an extra 5 points
In total, by completing all 31 days and all 4 weekly challenges, each player may earn up to 60 points to spend in the prize shop.
Players who complete at least 5 days of this activity will receive a sticker
Players who complete all 31 days of this activity will also receive a Gold Picture Frame!
Prizes are organized into a tiered prize shop, where each costs a certain amount of points to claim. Players are not limited to how many prizes of each tier they can choose, so long as they have enough points to do so.

**GCS coat of choice includes two new coats added for this event: Doodle Dog and Middle of the Night
Weekly deadlines:
Week One: 23:59 ST on Sunday July 9th Week Two: 23:59 ST on Sunday July 16th Week Three: 23:59 ST on Sunday July 23rd Week Four: 23:59 ST on Tuesday August 1st
***Please note that each week’s deadline falls on Sunday (except for the end of the month), which overlaps with the start of the next week. This was done intentionally to give players an extra day to get the previous week’s prompts submitted***
Can I use the pieces I create for this activity towards this month’s Cavern of Reflections?
Absolutely, as long as they meet the requirements!
Can the pieces I submit for this activity be artwork created for another activity happening elsewhere (i.e., art fight; other off-site exchanges)?
As long as your piece was created with the daily prompt in mind, yes!
